Anfang des Dammgrabens - Das Wasser des Bruchberges und des Brockenfeldes wurde durch diesen Graben nach Clausthal geleitet, um die Gruben mit der Wasserkraft betreiben zu können

Beginning of the Dam Ditch - The water from the Bruchberg and Brocken was channeled through this ditch to Clausthal in order to operate the mines with water power

Le fossé de la Digue est le plus long fossé artificiel du Haut-Harz. Il a été aménagé à partir de 1732 et alongé jusqu'en 1827

Der Dammgraben ist der längste künstlich angelegte Graben im Oberharz. Er wurde ab 1732 angelegt und bis 1827 immer weiter  verlängert

The Dam Ditch is the longest artificial ditch in the Upper Harz. It was built in 1732 and continuously extended until 1827

Sa longueur totale d'origine était d'environ 25 km, a pu être réduite à environ 19 km par la construction de sections souterraines, appelées canaux souterrains, entre 1820 et 1861

Seine ursprüngliche Gesamtlänge betrug etwa 25 km, diese könnte durch den Bau von unterirdischen Abschnitten, so genannten Wasserläufe, in den Jahren 1820 bis 1861 auf etwa 19 km abgekürzt werden 

Its original total length was about 25 km, which could be shortened to about 19 km by the construction of underground sections, so-called water tunnels, between 1820 and 1861
